Vanlife at Pont Blanc: what a 15 amp site gets you

by Camping Pont Blanc on Aug 12, 2026
Aerial view of the river winding through forest

Most campgrounds treat vans as small RVs and put them on pads built for forty-foot rigs. We built six pitches specifically for conversions instead.

What you get

  • A 15 amp plug. Enough for a fridge, lights, a fan and charging. Not enough for air conditioning or an induction hob at full draw.
  • A fire ring at every pitch.
  • Room to open up. The pitches are sized so you can swing the back doors and side door open and still have space to sit outside, facing the trees rather than your neighbour's wing mirror.

What you don't get

Water and sewer hookups. Those are on the RV sites. If you need full services, book one of the five serviced pads instead.

Who these suit

Camper van conversions, truck campers, small teardrops, and anyone in a rig short enough not to need a serviced pad. If you're self-contained for water and just want power and a fire, this is the cheaper and better-positioned option.

Power planning

15 amp is roughly 1,800 watts. A compressor fridge, LED lighting, a laptop and a phone charger sit comfortably inside that. A kettle plus a heater at the same time will not. If you're running a solar setup already, treat the plug as a top-up rather than your main supply.
